  • Discover signs of problematic use and potential dependency.
  • Explore harm reduction strategies, including dosing, frequency, and environment.

This course will help frontline workers and managers understand how neurodivergence (such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and more) intersects with trauma, mental health, substance use and housing instability—and what they can do to respond more effectively. Key areas:


  • What is neurodiversity? A social vs. medical model approach
  • Lived experience perspectives: how neurodivergent people experience challenges such as substance use dependency, homelessness, and difficulty engaging with services
  • Trauma, sensory needs, and exclusion
  • Recognising signs of neurodivergence in practice
  • Practical adjustments for communication, environment, and support
